Guidelines

First, contact our events manager. She will assist you and/or your wedding planner with the details of your wedding throughout your planning and will be present to facilitate your rehearsal.

Next, if you are having our pastor officiate your ceremony, please call the pastor directly to clear the date of your wedding.

We have an experienced organist/pianist. Contact the church office for this info. You can also bring your own music, including a pianist, but the organ is generally not available for outside use.

If you want to use our sound system, contact our sound engineer.

Church use for wedding: $650 ($100/hr) payable to First Baptist Church, when your wedding is booked. The total time allotted for weddings is 6.5 hours. No refunds are given for unused time, nor will you be charged for extra time. For your own sanity, you are encouraged to stay within this time parameter!

It is your responsibility to return the church to the condition and order it was in prior to your wedding—ready for worship. When you pick up the key to the church (at your rehearsal) and pay your key deposit, you will receive a checklist that gives you the exact guidelines for this. Your key deposit will be returned in full if these requirements are met. Make arrangements with the events manager for the return of your key deposit.

If the church has to be cleaned or the sanctuary restored for worship, a fee of $50 per hour will be deducted from the key deposit. If the church is in order but the key is not returned, a charge of $75 will be deducted from your key deposit.

Assign a keyholder—someone available to open the church for flower delivery and oversee closing the church at the end of your wedding (perhaps the wedding planner or trusted friend).

Parking is limited in the church parking lots. Consider including a map with your invitation that shows nearby public parking lots.

Our lovely, old church gets hot in the summer, particularly if you are seating more than 100 people. A huge, built-in swamp cooler helps keep the sanctuary cool, but you may want to bring four standing fans to move the cool air for the comfort of your guests. The events manager will show a designated person how to use the swamp cooler.

The sanctuary is quite ornate so choose additional decorations with care. Other than fresh flowers, all decorating can be done either before or after your rehearsal so that much of the work is done before wedding day.

Photoshoots can be time consuming and stressful for everyone. Consider scheduling most of the shoots prior to the ceremony. After your ceremony you will be anxious to get to your party and celebrate with your guests.

Ask for help when you feel stressed or overwhelmed! If you have a wedding planner, let her do the work. If you do not, ask family and friends to help with last minute decisions.

Take time before your ceremony to relax and focus on your marriage. Let go of the details! Regardless of imperfections, you WILL be married at the end of the day. You don't want to lose sight of the wonder and joy of the day. This day is not about your guests, family or friends. This is about the two of you and your vows to each other. Insist on it!

We will do our best to help make your wedding a blessed and loving experience for everyone involved. Ask questions, ask for help. We’re here for you.
